Who we are

This policy explains how Devscot (“we”, “us”) handles personal data when you visit devscot.com or contact us through it. Devscot is the controller of that data.

Our head office is at Office No. 10, Street No. 8, Housing Colony No 1, Samundri, Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan, and our UK office is at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. For any privacy question or request, email info@devscot.com.

This policy covers our website only. When we build software for a client, the handling of that client’s data is set out in our agreement with them.

What we collect

  • Project enquiries: when you submit the contact form, we receive your name, website or company name (if given), the service you are interested in, your project description, your budget range, your email address and, if you choose to give it, your phone or WhatsApp number.
  • Other messages: if you email, phone or message us on WhatsApp, we receive the contact details and information you choose to share, such as your phone number.
  • Newsletter: if you sign up, we receive your email address. Sign-ups are delivered to our inbox by the same email service as the contact form.
  • Performance data: anonymous, aggregated measurements of how fast pages load, collected by Vercel Speed Insights. These do not identify you.
  • Technical data: like any website, our hosting provider processes technical information such as IP addresses and browser details in order to deliver pages and keep the service secure.

We do not ask for special-category data (such as health information) through the website, and we ask you not to include it in enquiries.

How we use your data and our lawful bases

We use personal data only for the purposes below. For visitors in the UK and the European Economic Area, the lawful basis for each is shown in brackets.

  • To reply to your enquiry and prepare a proposal (steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries).
  • To deliver and manage a project you engage us for (performance of a contract).
  • To send the newsletter you signed up for (your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
  • To keep the website working, secure and fast (our legitimate interest in running a reliable website).
  • To keep records where the law requires it, for example for tax and accounting (legal obligation).

We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.

Cookies and browser storage

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

The site uses your browser’s session storage to remember whether the opening animation has already played during your visit, so it is not shown on every page. This value contains no personal data and is deleted when you close the browser tab.

Vercel Speed Insights measures page performance without using cookies to identify you.

Who we share data with

We share personal data only with service providers who help us run the website and our business, and only as much as they need:

  • EmailJS, which delivers contact-form submissions to our inbox by email.
  • Vercel, which hosts this website and provides Speed Insights.
  • Our email provider, which stores the messages we send and receive.
  • WhatsApp (operated by Meta), if you choose to contact us there. The WhatsApp button opens WhatsApp with a pre-filled message; nothing is sent until you press send, and WhatsApp’s own privacy policy then applies.

Blog articles are loaded from Devscot’s own content system; reading the blog does not require you to give us any personal data.

We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect our rights, or in connection with a sale or reorganisation of our business.

International transfers

We work from Pakistan and the UK, and our service providers may process data in other countries, including the United States. This means your data may be transferred outside the country where you live, including outside the UK and EEA.

Where UK or EU data-protection law applies, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses offered by our providers. Contact us if you would like more information.

How long we keep data

We keep enquiries and related correspondence for as long as needed to respond and, if we work together, for the length of the project and a reasonable period afterwards for support, records and legal claims.

Enquiries that do not lead to a project are deleted when they are no longer needed. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Records we must keep by law are kept for the period the law requires.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Ask us to erase your data
  • Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your data
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent

To make a request, email info@devscot.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on it, and we will reply within the time the law allows.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first. You can also complain to a supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), or the data-protection authority in your own country.

Security

The website is served over an encrypted connection, and we limit access to enquiries to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the data we hold.

Children

This website is intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Third-party links

The site links to other websites and services, such as social networks and WhatsApp. Their own privacy policies apply when you use them, and we are not responsible for how they handle your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our website or services change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. If a change significantly affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you where we can.
